    Engineering and Project Management in International Infrastructure Construction
  Spring-Summer term, Mr. Watanabe instructs.

The aim of this course is to provide basic theory, systematic knowledge and practical skill of civil engineering and project management, which are indispensable for an engineer and/or manager engaging in international infrastructure construction. Design, quality control, international contract, risk management, trouble shooting, necessary philosophy and attitude of engineer, etc. are taught by lectures and group discussions based on both theory and actual case studies.

    Advanced Structural Design
   Spring-Summer term, Prof. Maekawa instructs.

Seismic resistant/earthquake-proof design and its performance assessment are mainly discussed with most up-to-date technology on nonlinear response and risk analyses, special devices for dynamic control, maintenance and monitoring. Bridges and bridge system, energy facilities and underground structures are targeted for engineering issues.

  Spring-Summer term, Assoc Prof. Ishida instructs with Assoc Prof. Kishi.

To understand thermodynamics and microscopic mechanism for property development and deterioration of cementitious materials based on the knowledge of cement chemistry and concrete science.

    Frontier of Civil Engineering II
  Autumn-Winter term, Assoc Prof. Ishida instructs with Prof. Oki.

The latest research topics are introduced by professors (omnibus lecture). The contents are : Applications ofseeds technology to real engineering needs R&D strategy Research background and objectives Historical overview of research and development and so on.

    Nonlinear Mechanics of Reinforced Concrete
  Autumn-Winter term, Prof. Maekawa instructs.

Space-averaging concept of finite domains of reinforced concrete elements is focused and the way of simulating the seismic behaviors of RC and PC members and structures is discussed. The discrete and smeared approach of cracking is the core of this lecture and the performance based design of structures is to be understood as the new generation design scheme of structural concrete.
